If, like me, you received some much appreciated vouchers for Christmas, then you’ll probably be in the midst of embarking on those chaotic, emotional and inherently violent January Sales (with black eyes and paper bag laden wardrobes to show for your efforts). It can be a tough time for any fashionista- you wanted that last size large greige double breasted coat in Zara, but the clunky brogues from Reiss seem like the better investment, and you DID only spend €60 in H&M. What’s a gal to do?
Well, first and foremost, use the fitting rooms. I know, I know, it’s the last place you want to be when you’re already holding four bags, a skinni cap cap and are simultaneously navigating the asos sale on your phone and you’re only at 27% battery. But look, it’s worth it in the end, especially when you see how much of a mistake that fluffy tiger print knit will be when its actually on (I speak from experience on that one). If this still fails to make up your mind, then simply ask the store’s returns policy. Most shops allow full refunds within a month, even on sale items, but there are a menacing little number of high street brands that have a very limiting sales policy, that can often leave you with credit notes and unwanted items that you’ll regret almost as much as that January tummy bulge.
Of course, the sales can also be a glorious time for any fash savvy fellow, and I found myself rather pleased with my finds thus far! River Island have once again come up trumps with their sale, and the following are my top picks of what they have on offer!
These clunky lace ups from River Island are a total steal at €24 (down from €60!), which are perfect with these cow print socks, jus €1!
This amazing double breasted wool blend blazer was particularly appealing with it’s €100 reduction- it’s now only €45! The lining and contrast undersides collar makes it look worth a whole lot more, and I already have a multitude of outfits planned around it!
This divine geometric collared white shirt was just €15, down from €40.
This blue cotton oversized tee will be perfect with super skinny jeans and converse for a laid back spring look at just €6, down from €24!
This polka dot shirt was just €12- my third of its kind from RI!
Finally, almost ever lapel pin is only €2 at the moment- that’s a serious dose of dapper detail to any look.
So, what do you guys think? Will you be heading to RI soon, or have you already nabbed a bargain (or three!)?
