Hey guys and gals! Hope you’s are all keeping well – can you believe its November? Shocking! Firstly, let me apologise for my lack of posts lately. The past few weeks have been quite chaotic with filming and events, and I simply haven’t had a minute to sit down and put the ‘Jus’ in James! However, I’m not complaining – I’ve been having a ball working on Dig in Diner (a new RTE kids show) and Ireland AM, and have had the pleasure of attending some fabulously fashionable events. One of said fabulous events was the Gillette x Spectre event in the London Film Museum two weeks ago, to which I was delighted to be invited!
The event was a showcase of the Bond in Motion exhibition, which celebrates the glorious screen history of Ian Fleming’s Bond series with a fascinating spectacle of costumes, cars, and other classic memorabilia from the James Bond franchise. Preceding the event was a fabulous Bollinger champagne reception, followed by a presentation hosted by Vernon Kay, in which the TV star interviewed a number of prominent figures from the latest James Bond instalment, ‘Spectre’ – including the movie’s costume designer – and members of the Ian Fleming estate. Hearing the inside scoop on all things Bond was a deliciously unique experience, and the subsequent exhibition was just breathtaking.
A series of cars, planes and costumes were dotted throughout the oh-so cool setting of the London Film Museum, with story boards from each respective movie and stunning scenic backdrops punctuating the display. I was even lucky enough to be treated to some delicious canapés and some cheeky Belvedere vodka martinis – shaken not stirred, of course – all accompanied by the sublime sounds of the night’s sensational swing band. For the occasion, I opted for a classic dapper look from River Island. Navy check is a fail-safe fashion feature in my book, and, coupled with some dashes of radiant red, always makes a subtle but strong sartorial statement.
Exhibits and ensembles aside, however, one of the highlights of the night had to be when we were invited to have our very own ‘Bond Moment’ aboard a luxury motorbike – with an actual wind machine. It may have taken three attempts to get my leg over (tight trousers were not a good choice!), but I’m thrilled to say that I felt somewhat like Daniel Craig for a brief (and not so suave) moment. That man must have a very good tailor!
Of course, I couldn’t discuss the event without mentioning the latest (and quite frankly, fantastic) gift set from the Gillette family. To celebrate the release of Spectre, a special gift box retailing at €27.49 has been released, comprising of the super sleek Fusion ProGlide razor, two replacement blades and accompanying Fusion shaving gel. That’s the perfect stocking filler sorted! (Not to mention a pocket-pleasing excuse to be perfectly groomed should your very own Bond Moment arise!)
A huge thanks to the fabulous ladies at Fleishman Hillard for an amazing evening – I had an absolute ball!
